This year was busy and productive for the Remarkable Women Project and Remarkable Women Stories! Many thanks to everyone for helping us share untold stories of remarkable women throughout history both here in the States and abroad.
Here’s what we’ve been up to and how we plan to wrap up another great year. As always, we welcome your feedback and appreciate any donations to support the research for our projects.

Events
On the heels of our exciting first Remarkable Women Summit in Dublin this spring, Alice was a guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Stamford in April. With a nod to Mother’s Day, the program’s theme was remarkable mothers including Anna Jarvis and Sonora Smart Dodd, the women who started Mother’s Day and Father’s Day; Fei Fei Li, the “godmother of AI;” Katalin Kariko, the “mother of the Covid-19 vaccine;” and Frances Perkins, the “mother of the New Deal.”
In June, Alice was the keynote speaker at the 16th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon of the YWCA of Darien/Norwalk, Connecticut. The organization annually recognizes local women who have made a difference in their community. Among this year’s honorees were twelve young women of distinction who are already having an impact.
In November, Alice returned to Living in Retirement in Stamford, Connecticut for another program about remarkable women, this time focusing on pioneering aviators who paved the way for the first American female astronauts and continue to inspire contemporary spacewomen like Christina Koch, the first NASA female astronaut going to the Moon next year.
Remarkable Women Blog on Substack
We will be relaunching the blog here on Substack featuring interviews with contemporary remarkable women and our favorite remarkable women in history starting again in January.
Moving Forward to Produce our Remarkable Women Global Documentary Series
In June, Jane Applegate’s independent production company, Time for Tea Productions, LLC, signed an exclusive development agreement with a respected executive producer.
The producer’s creative and sales team are working with us in the U.S. and abroad to package, pitch and sell a variety of original content based on our 400-plus Remarkable Women.
We are looking at producing podcasts, short-form video content and ultimately, a streaming or broadcast network series to share our remarkable stories. We also hope to produce full length films about the most remarkable women we’ve researched.
Alice and Jane will be involved in the various projects in some way, to be determined. We’ll keep you posted as things progress!
Alice and Jane Produced a Short Promotional Video
We accepted a freelance project to write, direct and produce an 11-minute promotional video for the National Assn. of Women Artists. The New York City-based organization celebrates its 136th year in existence this year, serving more than 900 artists nationwide. A highlight of the project was shooting NAWA’s annual members’ exhibition at the Leonovich Gallery in Chelsea.

RW Advisory Board Member Spotlight
We are happy to share the news that Dublin-based writer/producer—and RW Advisory Board Member—Sheena Lambert had a very productive and exciting year. Her film, Drowned, based on her novel, The Lake, won the award for the best Irish language film at the Galway Film Festival. It also screened at the Newport Beach Film Festival to great acclaim. Lambert’s one-woman show, featuring talented Irish actor, Mary Murray, playing Cosima Wagner, is enjoying a long run at theatres across Dublin. Wagner was a remarkable woman—daughter of Franz Liszt and wife of opera composer, Richard Wagner.
Advisory board member, actor and writer, Sweta Keswani, was recently featured on an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She had a great experience working in New York City on set. Unfortunately, her character is murdered during the show, but I’m happy to report that Sweta is alive and doing well. Sweta also recently starred in and helped produce two important short films, Tabassum and The Spark.
“We are looking to offer an EP title to anyone who is willing to give us $1,500 for the edit and post production on The Spark,” said Keswani.
